Doordash driver tipping system

I am a Door Dash driver. I do not receive any of the upcharge you pay for the food - I honestly think that Door Dash and the restaurant split that, but I can’t say for certain. I receive $5 per delivery and whatever you tip me - and I spend minimally a half hour (usually closer to 45 minutes in my area) from start to finish on your order. It is absolutely insane to me that one of the responders below flippantly stated that he doesn’t tip Door Dash but does tip a pizza delivery driver more because they deserve it more! How do you figure? I have to drive from wherever I happen to be to where you ordered from (it is not at all atypical for this to be many miles), wait for your food, verify your order, then drive to wherever you live (again, not atypical for it to be 5–10, sometimes MORE miles). Yet if you went into a restaurant and had a server carry your food from the kitchen to your table, you’d gladly tip 20%? This makes no sense. I am driving my personal car and have to pay for all of my own gas. I have to do all of this whether you ordered $5 or $150 worth of food. Obviously, the task of packing your food in hot bags and handling it is harder the more items you have… but your driver is investing a baseline level of mileage and time no matter what and you should think about that before deciding they deserve nothing.
Thank you to the rest of you who have a more civilized view of this. If you don’t like the upcharge on the food, then feel free to go pick up your own food! I personally tip my driver minimally $7 - $10 when I use the service myself because I know what a slog it is.
